About Us

at Brighton Sutton & District Training College

We are now in our 25th year as a successful training provider and have had the privilege of working with young people in Brighton, since opening our centre at Ash Cottage in 2016.

As a small and nurturing college, we pride ourselves in offering personalised support, tailored to the learners’ educational needs and pace of learning. We want to empower them with the essential skills needed to transition into the workforce or go onto further education.

Our students are given a high level of pastoral support within the centre by trained and supportive staff.

Whilst on programme, students have the opportunity to take part in our Work Experience and Work Skills programme, supported by regular CEIAG interventions and embedded sessions within their chosen vocational areas.

We enjoy working collaboratively with all our partners and strive to make a positive difference to our local community.

What makes us special?

We pride ourselves in providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all our students. We have zero tolerance for bullying to ensure all students feel safe and supported. Our Designated Safeguarding Officer Sadie Mansell works hard to make sure students can always approach her (or other members of staff) with any issues, large or small.

Our team of dedicated and friendly tutors, is experienced in supporting students with SEND or SEMH needs. Sessions are dynamic and interactive with the opportunity to learn in ways suited to different educational needs. We provide mandatory training sessions for all staff members to raise awareness and understanding of SEND including how to communicate effectively and provide appropriate support needs.

Our tailored life skills programme runs alongside the academic curriculum and focuses on the practical skills needed for adulthood, such a cookery and nutrition, gardening and travel training. CV and job application support and visits from external experts are also very popular with our students.
